Anaheim (Calif.)
Servite
tight end
Luke Sorensen
had plenty of options.
Ole Miss
made a nice run at him.
Penn State
was in contention. But after visiting
Nebraska
officially earlier this month, he knew he wanted to call Lincoln home.
“That official visit did it for me,” Sorensen told . “Everything I knew about Nebraska from my unofficial visit, I felt it on the official visit. Everything aligned for me at Nebraska. Going into that visit, I knew how I felt, then I saw it all and knew Nebraska was the school for me.”
What was it about
Matt Rhule
‘s program that pushed the Cornhuskers to the top?
“That team culture at Nebraska is unbeatable. Nebraska is Nebraska. There is just football there and everyone there wants to work and to be great. Football is taken so seriously and I want to be part of a culture like that.
“The ability to play early was a factor too. I see a great opportunity to play there. The coaching staff was also important. I like coach Rhule, coach Satterfield and the staff. It is just a great place to be and Nebraska has it all.”
Sorensen is excited about the staff he gets to play for at Nebraska
Marcus Satterfield
is Sorensen’s lead recruiter. The two developed a strong relationship over the last few months and the 6-foot-3, 240-pounder is ready to go to work and learn from the Nebraska tight ends coach.
“Coach Satterfield is great. He is a very personable guy. It is funny because he says he is not a recruiter, that he is just a football guy, but he is great. I love how he keeps it real and I really believe he can do a great job with me.”
Sorensen is excited about working with Satterfield and being part of the program in Lincoln. He feels big things are on the horizon.
“Coach Rhule is going to do big things,” Sorensen said. “The program is only going up. The team is disciplined, they have the right mentality and top recruits are coming in to go with the good players there now.
“It is a place with great history, Memorial Stadium has a lot of tradition and Nebraska is about to do big things.”
