This intensive training program spanned over two days, taking place from May 21st through May 22nd in Burera District. Participants delved into an innovative educational framework encompassing lessons about agriculture, nutrition, and public health issues. According to Denyse Niyubahwe, who heads the Agricultural Department at Gardens for Health International, this endeavor seeks to equip these regions’ inhabitants with indispensable information and tools necessary to elevate agricultural yields alongside nutritional standards, accounting for environmental shifts too.
“Nurturing communities’ aptitude and assets towards advancing farm output concurrently improves their nourishment status,” stated Ms. Niyubahwe. “Our plan emphasizes integrating cultivation activities with heightened consciousness regarding proper eating habits.”
Incorporation of fortified produce like iron-rich legumes along with climatic-adaptive horticulture strategies forms part of what was imparted throughout the workshop sessions. Attendees learned methodologies including bed gardening, terraced plantations, and hydroponics designed specifically to maintain moisture supply amid arid conditions whilst mitigating risks associated with topsoil degradation and slope destabilization.
A total number fifty-six attendees participated actively receiving guidance concerning selecting dense-nutrient homestead plot layouts; tilling procedures mindful of changing weather patterns; setting up nurseries; transplantation tactics; seasonal growth supervision; forestry integration plus minimizing waste generation after harvests occur.
These learners intend establishing instructional zones labeled ‘Farmer Field Sites,’ spread out strategically aiming to act as hubs wherein locals gather insights into superior operational norms and obtain seedlings readily available nearby. Initially deployed regionally followed eventually spreading down hierarchies reaching cells and villages accordingly.

He clarified further stating, “Due primarily to elevated instances amongst juveniles suffering chronic wasting symptoms prior starting intervention standing approximately forty-one point six percent dropping significantly presently close thirty percentage points.”
