has resumed operations after an interruption that stopped clients from conducting money transfers.
“A spokesperson stated at 2:14 PM on Friday that we have resolved a problem impacting certain transfers from Commonwealth Bank accounts,” they noted.
Customers are now able to transfer funds between accounts and make payments using either their PayID or their BSB and account number through NetBank and the CommBank app.
‘Transactions with cards and ATMs remained unaffected. We apologize for the disruption and appreciate our customers’ understanding and patience.’
The update came after numerous clients experienced extensive service disruptions on Friday evening, leading the bank to extend their apologies.
‘We appreciate your understanding. Apologies for the disruption,’ it stated at 1 pm.
When customers attempted to process a transfer, they encountered a message stating: ‘There’s been an issue. Please try again shortly.’
By 12.30pm on Friday nearly 450 people had reported a Commonwealth Bank outage on DownDetector – a website that provides real-time information on outages and disruptions.
Several impacted clients expressed their grievances on social media platforms.
“I was at the checkout at Woolworths and had trouble transferring money between accounts,” a woman posted on Facebook.
A different woman, who wrote about her experience on X.com, mentioned she intended to switch banks after the occurrence of the incident.
‘I’ve decided to switch banks this time because not having access to my funds when I needed to collect my vehicle from the mechanic is incredibly frustrating,’ she explained.
Several customers also experienced problems moving money from their Commonwealth Bank accounts on Thursday evening.
By 11:12 PM, Down Detector had received 742 complaints.
