Qatar Charity Pioneers Health and WASH Initiatives in Awutu Senya West

Accra, May 24, GNA – As part of their ongoing efforts, Qatar Charity, an esteemed global NGO, has launched a new community enhancement program through their Health, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiative within the Obrayeko Bawjise area located in Ghana’s Awutu Senya West District.

This project encompasses building a fully equipped clinic, drilling a shallower well, and erecting accommodation facilities designed to enhance the community’s availability to potable water, hygiene services, and medical care.

The event was graced by participation from local residents, customary authorities, and governmental officials, presided over by Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, who serves as the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West and holds the position of Deputy Minister ofWorks and Housing.

Present as well were District Health Director Dr. Gerald Felix, Mr. Talala Eghan, along with representatives from Qatar Charity.

The recently opened amenities included a 25-meter deep well, along with a 150-square-meter clinic that was completely outfitted. This facility featured an outpatient department (OPD), examination rooms, a lab, and a birthing area.

Moreover, a 50-square-meter accommodation facility was constructed for the medical personnel.

At the event, Mrs. Tetteh-Agbotui conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to Qatar Charity for their significant support in enhancing healthcare services and quality of life within the local area.

She highlighted the significance of community involvement and encouraged locals to look after the newly built facilities responsibly.

“The establishment of this clinic along with associated facilities represents a significant advancement in improving the quality of life for the residents of Obrayeko Bawjise,” she remarked.

We urge all community members to keep up and efficiently utilize these resources.

Dr. Gerald Felix, from the District Health Directorate, reassured both community members and stakeholders that they would work diligently to get the clinic up and running quickly so as to optimize its advantages.

He assured the dedication of the directorate to supplying the required staff and assets for the efficient operation of the facility.

The representatives from the Country Director of Qatar Charity, Mr. Hasan Ali Owda, reaffirmed their commitment to advancing rural development and implementing social initiatives.

He expressed his gratitude to the community leaders for their cooperation and confidence, emphasizing that maintaining proper usage of the updated amenities would lead to increased backing from the charitable organization.

“We think that with proper utilization and maintenance, this facility could become an example for upcoming WASH initiatives in comparable communities,” he said.

The traditional leaders present to bless and welcome the initiatives included the Gyaasehene, Naa Adeimah II; Queen Mother Naakyei Gyanodei; Queen Mother Naakyei Adobah IV; as well as Zongo Chief Tijani Musah.

The queens expressed their delight with the standard of the clinic, especially regarding the medical facilities.

“They anticipated a simple clinic, yet what was provided surpassed their expectations. They expressed gratitude.”

The local residents enthusiastically greeted the newly established clinic, borehole, and houses, showing their appreciation to Qatar Charity as they toured the premises.

A number of people expressed their appreciation for the state-of-the-art laboratory and birthing facilities, describing the initiative as a crucial milestone in the area’s progress.
