A Woman Avoids a Life-Threatening Situation After Ex-Boyfriend Spikes Vodka with Bleach
A woman narrowly escaped a dangerous situation after her ex-boyfriend intentionally poisoned a bottle of Tito’s Vodka with bleach, which she almost consumed. The incident occurred in Deltona, Florida, and led to the arrest of the man involved.
On Monday evening around 8:26 p.m., deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VSO) were called to a home in response to a possible poisoning. Upon arrival, they spoke with the victim, who had gone to her ex-boyfriend’s house to collect the rest of her belongings that she had left behind.
According to the affidavit, the victim stated that all of her items were in a specific area of the living room. Among her belongings were facial products and a 750 ML bottle of Tito’s Vodka. She reported that she gathered everything without any issues and took it back to her uncle’s house.
Later that night, the victim and her uncle decided to take a shot from the Tito’s bottle to calm their nerves. However, as the uncle drank the shot, he immediately spit it out, claiming that there was bleach mixed in with the vodka. This alarming discovery prompted them to contact law enforcement.
Deputies asked the victim to call her ex-boyfriend, identified as Edwin Guzman, to ask about the presence of bleach in the bottle. During the phone call, Guzman confessed to pouring bleach into the Tito’s Vodka, along with some of the victim’s facial products.
Following this revelation, VSO deputies went to Guzman’s home on E Normandy Boulevard, where they arrested him. Body camera footage from the arrest shows deputies approaching Guzman, who was 23 years old at the time. He was handcuffed and taken to a deputy cruiser for transport to the Volusia County Jail.
Guzman was charged with poisoning food or water. This incident highlights the severity of the crime and the potential danger that can arise from personal disputes.
