Last night during AEW Dynamite, Ospreay showed up. He shared that he has been dealing with a neck problem for the last 10 months, and the assault from the Death Riders made it worse. The Aerial Assassin then stated that he will be taking a break for several weeks. However, he is aiming to return in time for Forbidden Door. This year’s Forbidden Door event will be held in London, England at the O2 Arena.
Will Ospreay discusses his present health challenges
I’ve had issues with my neck for approximately ten months now, and it’s been causing me some problems. Normally, our medical team acts quickly when they hear about a neck injury; they want to stop things immediately to ensure our safety. The difference here is that I haven’t talked to anyone. I’ve kept this to myself. That’s my fault. I shouldn’t have done that. I should have informed the medical staff, the referees, and the wrestlers. But I just… I really wanted to get us across the finish line. I made several promises, including ones to Swerve and Hangman.
And most importantly, I promised all of you that I would be involved in getting that World Championship back. Although the sacrifice was significant, I’m proud to say, ‘We got that belt back, guys!’ Alright. So, here it is, when the Death Riders did what they did to me, I was taken to the Emergency Room. I had an MRI. In my C2 and C6, I had two herniated discs that affected my spinal cord. As bad as that sounds, every doctor I’ve spoken to has said it’s treatable. So, with the proper treatment, the right physical therapy, and the support of the people around me, especially what AEW can offer, hopefully, with everything going well, I should be back for Forbidden Door.
Will Ospreay promises to seek his retribution against the Death Riders
“Before I leave, before I begin this… There are three things I want to say, Swerve, I love you, brother. Thank you very much for everything you’ve done. Hangman Page, it was a privilege to fight alongside you. And I’m proud to call you my World Champion. But I’ll be seeking that rematch, guys. And to the Death Riders, when I’m back in shape and ready, I’ll be returning the favor. So, you can count on me coming after each and every one of you, you little jerks,” Ospreay said.
