New Regulations to Control Private Ownership

These measures include mandatory sterilization of lions, tigers, and leopards, as well as a complete ban on their commercial sale and purchase. Chief Wildlife Ranger Mubeen Elahi emphasized that this is the first time Punjab is implementing such stringent rules on the private ownership of big cats. Owners were given a deadline of May 2 to declare their animals. As of now, 180 registered breeding farms have submitted declarations, with 40 of them having been officially verified by wildlife authorities.
