WHEELING, W.Va. – Wheeling University has named Cameron Gibson as its new Director of Residence Life.
A university graduate from 2020, Gibson is back in a place he knows well. During his time as a student, he worked as a residential advisor and headed the Campus Activities Board. In his latest position, he hopes to assist students in adapting to life on campus.
This role brings me back to where I began — in housing services,” Gibson said. “I’m excited about collaborating with our resident assistants and the dean of students to ensure a great experience in the dorms and throughout the university.
The Dean of Students, Mike Geibel, stated that Gibson offers significant expertise to the position, having held various roles at the university.
“Cameron’s experience as a student, graduate assistant, and admissions representative provides him with a solid grasp of campus life. His perspectives will aid our initiatives to enhance the student experience,” Geibel stated.
Following the completion of his bachelor’s degree in accounting, Gibson remained at Wheeling to obtain an MBA while serving as a graduate assistant for the swim team. After that, he worked for three years on student recruitment with the admissions department.
Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, Gibson mentioned that his priority is enhancing community within the dormitories by implementing consistent activities and assistance.
Activities focused on building a sense of community will enable students to connect and develop socially,” he stated. “We also aim to pay close attention to the daily interactions students have with their roommates and the environments they live in.
Gibson stated that his objective is to assist students in maximizing their time at Wheeling.
I desire for students to form enduring memories in this place. We can achieve this by providing solid support and impactful experiences.
