Wema Bank Unveils N2m Grant for Women Empowerment

Wema Bank Supports Women Entrepreneurs with N2m Business Grant at SheCan Conference

Wema Bank has announced its commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs through a significant initiative at the upcoming SheCan conference. The bank is set to provide a business grant worth N2 million, aimed at empowering women within the SARA Community.

This initiative aligns with Wema Bank’s ongoing efforts to promote women’s empowerment and support their economic growth. As a key partner of the SheCan 6.0 Conference, which will take place in Lagos next Friday, the bank is contributing to the event’s theme, “SheCan Do More.” This partnership highlights Wema Bank’s dedication to creating opportunities for women to thrive in their entrepreneurial journeys.

The grant will be awarded by Wema Bank through its women-focused platform, SARA by Wema. The initiative seeks to support women-led businesses that are active members of the SARA Community and have active accounts with Wema Bank. The goal is to help these women scale their businesses sustainably and make meaningful contributions to the economy.

Ayodele Olojede, Head of Retail and SME Banking at Wema Bank, emphasized the bank’s commitment to providing financial backing, tools, training, and networks to women entrepreneurs. He stated that the partnership with SheCan represents more than just sponsorship—it is a tangible investment in helping Nigerian women build sustainable businesses and drive economic growth.

How to Apply for the Grant

Eligible applicants are required to submit a written pitch of no more than two pages. The pitch should include details about their business, founder story, the problem they are solving, target audience, competitive advantage, proposed use of the grant, and expected outcomes and community impact. This process ensures that the most promising and impactful proposals are selected for funding.

SARA by Wema is a dedicated program designed to provide women with access to financial services, business advisory, personal development tools, and wellness support. It caters to women at various stages of life and enterprise, offering tailored solutions to meet their unique needs.

A Long-Term Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Since the inception of the SheCan Conference, Wema Bank has played a pivotal role in driving its mission to empower women with the skills, knowledge, and access needed to succeed. Beyond the main conference events, the bank has consistently supported SheCan’s broader initiatives through mentorship programs, vocational training, and charity fairs. These efforts have impacted thousands of women across Nigeria.

Over the years, SheCan has grown into one of Nigeria’s most influential platforms for personal development, entrepreneurship, and community building. Since its launch, the initiative has empowered over 26,000 women. This year’s edition will feature three core panels focusing on business and career growth, personal discovery, and family-life balance. These discussions aim to highlight the multidimensional strength of the modern Nigerian woman.

Through continued partnerships and initiatives like the N2m business grant, Wema Bank is reinforcing its commitment to fostering a future where women can lead with confidence and contribute meaningfully to the economy. The collaboration with SheCan underscores the bank’s belief in the transformative power of women and their potential to drive positive change in society.
