The military also said the IDF was striking military infrastructure across central Iran, in addition to
strikes on southwestern Iran
earlier on Saturday.
“Approximately 60 fighter jets guided by precise intelligence carried out a strike deep within Iranian territory,” IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Effie Defrin said in his Saturday evening briefing on the ninth day of
Operation Rising Lion
.
The strike on the three Iranian F-14s was carried out “in the heart of Iran,” Defrin added.
During his briefing, he also stated that the IAF is “hitting every element in the missile production chain, preventing the Iranian military from advancing its strategic capabilities.”
IAF also struck “military radar detection systems and air defense batteries as part of a broader effort to achieve aerial superiority throughout Iranian airspace,” Defrin said.

in a Tehran airbase minutes before they were set to take off, the Israeli military revealed on Monday evening.
Iran received 79 of the US-made F-14’s in 1976 when the country was still ruled by the Iranian Shahs. These were taken by the Islamic Republic after the 1979 Revolution. The F-14 was retired by the US Navy in 2006, being replaced by the F-18. The Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country that still uses the twin-engine fighter jet.

Mohammad Saeed Izadi
, the commander of the IRGC-QF’s Palestine Corps and the key coordinator between Iran and Hamas, was also killed on Saturday, both the military and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced.
