Watch: Chase Ends as Sheboygan Falls Shooting Suspect Captured on Freeway

A 24-year-old Milwaukee man,
who was wanted in connection with a double shooting in Sheboygan Falls
, was arrested on June 11 after driving away from the scene and eventually leading law enforcement on a chase on the freeway.

The Sheboygan Falls Police Department said they responded with the Sheboygan Falls Fire Department to the area of Giddings Avenue and Guilford Street around 4:15 p.m. for a 67-year-old man and a 39-year-old man who were shot multiple times.

Police said the suspect, the 24-year-old man, had already left the scene.

The 24-year-old man knew the victims, according to police. He went to a house near Giddings and Guilford armed with a handgun and confronted the 39-year-old. The 24-year-old then fired several shots, which struck both victims. The 39-year-old did get hold of the gun at one point and fired at the 24-year-old man, but did not strike him. There were others in the house, but they were not injured.

Both victims had to be taken to a hospital by helicopter. They both suffered life-threatening injuries, but are expected to survive, according to police.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified about the shooting just before 4:30 p.m. and that the 24-year-old man was believed to be heading southbound to Milwaukee.

Deputies along I-43 eventually spotted the 24-year-old’s vehicle near State Highway 33 in Saukville.

Deputies and an officer from the Saukville Police Department attempted a traffic stop, but the 24-year-old continued to drive away, starting a chase from Ozaukee County to Milwaukee County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Wisconsin State Patrol used devices to deflate one of the tires of the SUV the 24-year-old was driving near Good Hope Road. The 24-year-old lost control of the SUV and crashed into another truck near Silver Spring Road. He then jumped out of the SUV while it was still moving and tried running away on the freeway, but was arrested shortly after.

The 24-year-old is being held at the Sheboygan County Detention Center on charges of recklessly endangering safety, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police said they are still investigating the shooting.
