Welcome to TCPalm’s Teacher of the Week voting.
TCPalm wants to recognize Treasure Coast teachers making a difference for their students and schools. Readers — parents, administrators, students, community members and other teachers ― nominate their favorite teachers each week. TCPalm lists four nominated teachers, and asks readers to vote for their favorite to be named Teacher of the Week.
TCPalm invites you to support your favorite teacher by voting in this poll. And then revisit it to learn about the amazing teachers on the Treasure Coast.
Voting begins at 5 a.m. Sunday and ends at noon Friday. Visit this page after voting closes to find out who won.

The nominated teachers for this week’s poll are:
Charlene Carter, Lakewood Park Elementary School, St. Lucie County
What the nominator said:
“Mrs. Carter is inspiring, energetic, and truly a servant teacher leader. Not only does she support schoolwide improvement efforts through her role as a coach, she also teaches a class of fifth graders! She is as dependable as she is knowledgeable and shows every day she doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk. She will push you to be your best self, and be your biggest cheerleader along the way. The students are so lucky to have her!!”
Cheryl Durham, Liberty Magnet, Indian River County
What the nominator said:
“Mrs. Durham goes above and beyond for her students. She strives to bring out the best in her students and helps them achieve their goals. Every day is a fresh start. Thankful that Mrs. Durham has been a part of my son’s journey.”
Jean-Ann Korona Fret, Northport K-8, St. Lucie County
What the nominator said:
“Caring, outstanding, strives for every student’s success, she’s empathetic and knows how to deal with emotions. She is comforting. She makes connections well. She dedicates herself in her work. She changes the sports world in our middle school. She is the person I could go to for anything. She makes an effort to better herself as a person and a teacher. She spends most of her time coaching. If you needed something to get done, you could go to her.”
Jason Hardy, Martin County High School, Martin County
What the nominator said:
“Mr. Hardy is one of the best teachers I have had. He is always making sure that every student present is having a great time in the class while also focusing on their work. He also knows how to handle serious events, like an argument or physical contact between students. Mr. Hardy is always in a great mood and never ignores students, listening to them for whatever they have to say.”
