A Kenyan man living in the United States of America is heartbroken and confused after his wife allegedly deceived him.

The devastated man, Mark (not his real name), stated that both he and his wife, Mary (also not her real name), are legally married and work as medics in Minnesota.

He shared that they both moved abroad in 2023 and agreed to invest back home by building an apartment on a piece of land they had purchased.

“I’m currently in the USA, but I’m coming back next month. I have been scammed over a 52-unit apartment that I really invested in. My wife is from Kiambu and I’m from Kisii, but we agreed to get land in Kikuyu,” he said.

Who built the house in Kiambu?

According to Mark, they agreed that his income would be used to develop the property, while Mary’s income would cover their daughter’s needs and basic household expenses.

After he had saved a significant amount of money, Mary travelled back to Kenya to oversee the start of the project.

“I sent her money, and she even sent me a picture of herself, her mother, and a pastor during ground-breaking prayers. She travelled back to Minnesota after two months, and I continued sending money to the engineer handling the construction,” he shared.

Mark said he trusted Mary because they were legally married and was unaware of what was happening behind his back.

However, his heart sank when he recently received a call from a man who had bought land next to his, asking if he was willing to sell it.

“He wanted to buy it because it appeared idle, and this really shocked me,” he stated.

What did US-based man’s wife say?

Upon asking his wife what the man meant, she bluntly told him that she had the apartment built on her mother’s land in Thindigua because it was prime property.

“When I went back to the pictures she sent me, I realised the background wasn’t visible,” he said.

As if that wasn’t painful enough, Mary later asked for a divorce, saying they were not compatible and that her mother and their pastor supported her decision.

“Recently, when my daughter was playing with her phone, I decided to go through it and found out she is romantically chatting with a popular Mugithi singer. I’m just confused—where do I even start?” he posed.
