CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — U.S. 50 West was temporarily shut down in Clarksburg Tuesday night after officials said a vehicle hit the jersey barrier and collided with another vehicle.
According to the Harrison County 911 Log, at about 7:58 p.m., crews were alerted to a two-vehicle accident with unknown injuries near the 2nd Street exit of U.S. 50 West.
12 News sent a reporter to the scene, who found that two vehicles had sustained damage in the wreck. One of them, a sedan, was seen facing the wrong direction, while the other, a minivan, had heavy damage to its roof and windshield.
The reporter also noted at the scene that one of the vehicles’ wheels and shocks had broken off and were embedded into a speed limit sign in the area and was surrounded by a large amount of debris.
Two Harrison County EMS ambulances were spotted at the scene, but 911 officials said everyone on the scene refused transport.
As of 8:40 p.m., U.S. 50 has reopened in the area.
Crews with the Clarksburg Fire Department, Clarksburg Police Department and Harrison County EMS responded to the call.
