Half of the finals for the
WWE King and Queen of the Ring
tournaments have been set, with two superstars advancing.
On
Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown
, Asuka punched her ticket to the finals, beating Alexa Bliss in singles action. In the match, Asuka won after kicking out of a Twisted Bliss and then hitting the Empress Impact for the win.
Later in the night, it was Randy Orton’s turn to make it to the finals. In a match against Sami Zayn, Orton walked out on top after countering a Helluva Kick with a vicious RKO. The moment came after Zayn avoided countless RKO attempts, but didn’t do enough to secure the win.
The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. Orton will now face off against the winner of Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. On the women’s side, Asuka waits to see which of Jade Cargill and Roxanne Perez she’ll face.
King and Queen of the Ring
was last held last year,
with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final.
