– The Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) highlighted the importance of equipping students at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions with high-level skills for Ethiopia’s economic development and global competitiveness.
At yesterday’s graduation ceremony for LG-KOICA Hope TVET College, Labor and Skills State Minister Teshale Berecha (PhD) emphasized the significant contribution of TVET institutions to national advancement. “TVET graduates form the foundation of progress and change. Supporting skill development is not merely important; it is vital for economic expansion and international competitiveness,” he stated.
Teshale commended LG-KOICA Hope TVET College for generating highly skilled graduates who have found jobs within the country and with international companies like LG Electronics. Some alumni have also started thriving businesses, serving as a strong model for other institutions throughout Ethiopia.

“Our ministry is actively striving to unlock access to the global labor market in specific industries and has introduced a digital platform to link and track job opportunities across the world,” he added. He urged graduates to make the most of the opportunities provided by this platform.
The South Korean envoy to Ethiopia, Jung Kang, stated that the graduates are influencing Ethiopia’s future and supporting the upcoming generation. “The education and expertise gained here are valued and recognized. The unique collaboration between Korea and Ethiopia, a bond established during the Korean War and maintained through educational and developmental cooperation, is represented by these graduates,” he mentioned.
Ambassador Jung pointed out that the joint effort of LG Electronics, KOICA, and World Together in running the college is a remarkable instance of effective cooperation.
College Dean Tariku G/Medhin mentioned that 124 companies are now functioning in Addis Ababa, contributing significantly to tackling the country’s socio-economic issues. The institution offers technical education that helps students gain expertise in electronics and information technology, equipping them for various technical professions.
“From the beginning, our college has concentrated on education in electronics and information technology. The expertise and understanding acquired here will make a significant difference to our community and economic growth,” Tariku stated.
LG-KOICA Hope TVET College conferred degrees on 70 students yesterday, specializing in electronics and information technology.
