The conservative Wall Street Journal released a report titled “Inside Trump and Musk’s Complex Connection” later on Friday night. The publication explains that although President Trump and his team have occasionally shown irritation towards Musk, advisors claim their relationship remains strong.

As stated in the report, it hinged on the timing of Musk’s departure from his role at the White House to get back to managing his various enterprises.
According to the report, Trump became aware of Musk’s departure timeline through the same channel frequently employed by the President for major staffing announcements: a social media post. The President understood that Musk was planning to leave shortly; however, he wasn’t privy to the precise timing until after the announcement had been made, as per sources close to Musk’s exit process.
The document continues by outlining areas of conflict between them, such as an intense argument that occurred between Musk and the White House.
The latest confrontation between Musk and the White House took place 11,265 kilometers away from Washington D.C. Musk was infuriated by a deal spearheaded by his competitor Sam Altman from OpenAI — along with its scheduled release during a presidential visit — which prompted him to lodge complaints against at least three White House staff members, resulting in Trump’s involvement according to the report.
The WSJ report was published shortly after Trump stated, “I don’t appreciate unexpected surprises,” referring to Russian President Putin and his continuous military action in Ukraine.
