Trump Red-Faced as Crane Driver Naps During White House Flag Ceremony

A worker was spotted dozing off during an event to mark the installation of
Donald Trump’s two new
giant flagpoles on the grounds of the White House.

Trump watched on as the
flagpoles were erected
by workers on the North and South Lawns of the White House on Wednesday morning.

Video
shared on social media
showed a crane operator sleeping in the machine as the president posed for pictures with workers. Trump was seemingly unaware that the man was napping, and continued smiling and speaking to other workers.

“It’s such a beautiful pole,” Trump said.

“These are the best poles anywhere in the country or in the world,” he added.

Later in the day, Trump saluted the American flag as it was hoisted. The president felt the White House always needed bigger flagpoles on the grounds and has described them as a “gift” from himself.

“This is the real deal,” he said. “This is the best you can get. There’s nothing like this.”

The flagpoles are part of a series of refurbishments the president has made to the White House and its grounds since taking office.

Earlier this year, Trump hung new artworks featuring himself in the White House, including one of him with his fist raised after last year’s attempted assassination in
Pennsylvania
.

He has redecorated the Oval Office by adding portraits of all of his predecessors. He has also added golden accents to the fireplace, doorway arches and walls.

The White House last week began construction projects ordered by the president to pave over the grass in the famous Rose Garden. The garden was created while John F. Kennedy was in office.

Trump has complained about the lawn always being “soaking wet” and making it difficult for “the women with the high heels.”
