Trump Claims China Will Sentence Fentanyl Traffickers to Death

Trump Proposes Death Penalty for Fentanyl Traffickers in China

US President Donald Trump has made a bold statement regarding the ongoing fentanyl crisis, suggesting that the United States could reach an agreement with China where the latter would impose the death penalty on individuals involved in transporting fentanyl into the US. This proposal comes as part of his broader strategy to address what he describes as a significant threat to American communities.

Trump emphasized that the tariffs imposed on China are not just economic measures but are also penalties aimed at compensating the US for the losses caused by fentanyl trafficking. He stated, “I have a very good relationship with President Xi of China, but I imposed a 20% tariff on China because of the fentanyl.” According to him, China is responsible for delivering a significant portion of the fentanyl that ends up in the US, either directly or through Mexico.

The president also highlighted the importance of the recent legislation that amended the Controlled Substances Act, focusing on the scheduling of fentanyl-related substances. He mentioned that the 20% tariff has resulted in billions of dollars in damages for China, and he believes that a deal can be reached where China would enforce the death penalty for those who produce and send fentanyl into the US.

A Long-Overdue Deal

Trump expressed his belief that such a deal should have been signed much earlier. He claimed that he had previously discussed the matter with Chinese leaders, but the situation changed after the 2020 election. “I believe that we would have had that deal a long time ago. I shook hands with them, and then we had a rigged election, and we had somebody else come in, and they didn’t know anything about a deal for the death penalty,” he said.

He further criticized the previous administration, particularly President Joe Biden, for the drug crisis that he inherited. “Today, we strike a righteous blow to the drug dealers, narcotic traffickers, and criminal cartels… and we take a historic step toward justice for every family touched by the fentanyl scourge,” Trump asserted.

The Impact of Open Borders

Trump also blamed the open border policy for the surge in fentanyl entering the country. He described the situation as a “nightmare” that flooded the US with fentanyl and other illicit drugs. “This open borders nightmare flooded our country with fentanyl and with people that shouldn’t be here, some of the worst people on Earth. And illicit drugs decimated American communities and left us with the largest law enforcement challenge in our country’s history,” he said.

He argued that the previous administration’s policies allowed foreign drug cartels to establish a massive presence on American soil. “For four long years, Joe Biden surrendered our borders to the most evil and vicious traffickers, networks, and everything else on the planet Earth,” Trump claimed.

A Historic Step Toward Justice

In conclusion, Trump reiterated his commitment to addressing the fentanyl crisis head-on. He stated, “We have a 20 per cent [tariff], so they pay billions of dollars and billions of dollars in damages for what they’ve done. And I think we’re going to work it out so that China is going to end up going from that to giving the death penalty to the people that create this fentanyl and send it into our country.”

He also announced that all fentanyl-related substances will be banned forever, and those involved in trafficking these deadly poisons will face long prison sentences. Trump’s remarks reflect his determination to tackle the issue of fentanyl trafficking and protect American communities from its devastating effects.
