PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Florida’s gubernatorial race is about a year away, but one politician throwing his name in the mix was in Bay County Sunday.
Bay County’s Republicans met at the Todd Herendeen Theater in Panama City Beach for a Trump Day Dinner.
One of the main speakers of the night was U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, whose name has been linked with next year’s contest for the Governor seat.
Local Republicans shared why they think every GOP candidate should make their case in the Panhandle.
“If you want to win the Republican primary in the state of Florida the panhandle is where you need to win and, so, I am excited to see how 2026 plays out,” said Tho Bishop, chairman of the Bay County Republican Party. “I think we are going to get a lot of attention next year.”
Notable local lawmakers present at the dinner include state Sen. Jay Trumbull, Panama City Beach Mayor Stuart Tettemer and newly elected Panama City Mayor Allan Branch.
