The video depicts Cameron McDougall, aged 28, engaging in an assault.
TSA agents
Shortly after he passed through airport security.
In the footage, McDougall enters the scene from the left edge of the screen; he doesn’t seem threatening initially. However, once he gets close to the TSA security checkpoint, he suddenly begins assaulting the officers working there. Some of his blows fail to connect, prompting him to charge directly at one officer while others come to assist.
Another agent pushes McDougall into a security cart and wrestles him to the ground, yet McDougall keeps swinging his fists at the person’s face.
In another selection of surveillance footage, McDougall can be seen attacking a random man in the airport terminal, swinging wildly on the shocked passerby. An airport security guard was injured trying to break up that fight.
Shortly after that encounter, McDougall strolled over to the TSA station to launch his assault there.
McDougall found himself in Miami solely due to an altercation with another passenger during his flight from Panama to his hometown of Toronto. Upon diverting to Miami, instead of pressing charges against him, the flight crew informed McDougall that if he wished to continue his journey, he would have to arrange for transportation through another airline.
Rather than reserving a ticket, he began swinging his fists.
The Miami-Dade police apprehended McDougall at the airport. Since then, the Canadian has admitted guilt to two federal counts of attacking, obstructing, or interfering with law enforcement officials. He could be sentenced up to two years in prison, with a court date set for May 30th.
Aside from the federal charges against him, it seems he will also have to deal with three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer under Florida state laws, along with an additional misdemeanor battery charge.
His hearing at the state courthouse is set for June 2nd.
