Dhaka, May 25 — On Sunday, a court in Dhaka issued a travel ban against former Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury along with his relatives.
The other members include his spouse Rehan Chowdhury, sons Hamdad Hossain and Araj Alam, along with daughters Raima Chowdhury and Alisha Babar Chowdhury.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge, Zakir Hossain Ghalib, issued the directive following an application submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). This was verified by the ACC’s Public Relations Officer, Akhtarul Islam.

Previously, ACC Deputy DirectorMd. Saiduzzaman submitted an application requesting a restriction on their international travel.
In its petition, the anticorruption agency stated that the commission is looking into accusations of amassing significant illicit riches via corruption and exploitation of political power.

“Throughout the investigation, details regarding multiple real estate holdings—especially those located in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom—were uncovered under their names. In an effort to stop the accused from escaping the nation and avoiding legal consequences, the commission sought to enforce a travel restriction against them,” the statement noted.
