Submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the company clarified that a multi-layer vent patch utilized in the pickup truck’s reverse light units could deteriorate over time as a result of temperature fluctuations.

The weakened adhesive may permit water infiltration within the assembly, resulting in rusting of the circuit board, connectors, or wire harnesses, which could eventually lead to the failure of the reverse lights.

Should the lights fail to turn on, drivers might experience decreased visibility from behind during dim lighting situations, and fellow motorists may struggle to notice when the truck is reversing.

Toyota said the issue affects only certain Tundra and Tundra Hybrid models with a specific reverse light design that uses a particular type of adhesive.

The firm intends to inform impacted owners from June 30 to July 14. Toyota will provide free replacement of both reverse light assemblies using enhanced components for no charge.

The car manufacturer stated, ‘Dealers will provide complimentary replacement for both reverse light units using enhanced versions.’

Furthermore, assembly wiring harnesses will be fixed at no cost for any vehicles found to have corrosion that has spread into the wire harness connector.

For individuals who have already incurred expenses to repair the reverse light problem, the recall report suggests owners should ‘pursue reimbursement under Toyota’s General Reimbursement Plan.’


This marks the most recent recall in a series involving this automaker.

In February, Toyota announced a recall of over 106,000 2024-2025 Tacoma four-wheel-drive trucks because of issues with brake fluid leakage.

Accumulation of mud and debris might harm the rear brake hoses, which can diminish braking effectiveness and raise the likelihood of an accident.

Dealers provided an offer for replacing the hoses at no cost, with announcements scheduled to be sent out in March and April.
