Tinubu Urged to Tackle Insecurity

A public affairs analyst, Malam Adamu Sambo, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to tackle the nation’s security issues within the next 12 months if he hopes to win the 2027 presidential election.

Sambo emphasised that the president must prioritise wiping out banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram, and other terrorist activities across the country.

“If President Tinubu refuses to address these security challenges, he will definitely not win the election,” Sambo declared.

“Even the rigging structures and processes will fail,” he insisted.

Sambo, in a chat with

in Kaduna, also believes that President Tinubu’s competitors in the 2027 presidential election are not the real enemies but rather the visible and open competitors.

He noted that none of the intending presidential aspirants has a template for leading Nigeria to prosperity.

“The enemies of President Tinubu that will derail his chances of winning the 2027 election include the “inner cabal” in his cabinet that will block him from keeping in touch with the people that will really help him in good and proper governance,” Sambo pointed out.

He readily identified state governors who were not doing anything in their states, ministers, Director-Generals, and Chief Executive Officers of Federal Ministries, Agencies, and Departments who are busy reaping profits from their political appointments without considering the effect on the President or the Tinubu Administration.

“These sets of people are Tinubu’s real enemies who are ready to derail him in the 2017 presidency race.”

As a result, Sambo further advised the president to be cautious of these groups that could easily move resources and abandon him when he needed them.

Thus, he suggested that the President should consult with ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to understand how an incumbent President can lose an election and also with former President Ibrahim Babangida to understand why a Military General as President will hurriedly hand over the Presidential seat to a civilian, Mr. Shonekan.

“President Tinubu has a lot of resources at his disposal and is humble and has former presidents and military heads of state to consult,” Sambo said.

“Nigeria needs to partner with Russia, China, and renew serious friendship with Britain to reinstate its big brother position in Africa.”

Sambo, who is also an environmentalist, also raised the alarm over the dire state of the nation, warning that the country was on the brink of collapse if urgent actions were not taken to address the myriad of challenges facing it.

According to Sambo, “the situation in Nigeria today is not okay at all, with the federal government’s failure to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians leading to widespread internal displacement and fleeing of citizens to other countries as refugees.

“The whole political class of this political dispensation is 100 per cent responsible for the current state of affairs,” Sambo carpeted.

“President Tinubu, as the political leader of Nigeria, should use the powers of his office to ensure that Nigerians are allowed to farm, rear animals, and feed themselves.”

The security expert identified insecurity of lives and properties as the greatest challenge facing the country today, citing terrorism as a major factor that is crippling agricultural production in key food-producing zones such as the North-West and North-East.

“Food is scarce in Nigeria, and people are hungry,” Sambo lamented.

“Low agricultural production can be attributed to insecurity in areas producing 60 per cent of the food in Nigeria.”

He pointed out that the devaluation of the naira and importation of fuel have also contributed to the high cost of transportation, making food expensive and further exacerbating the economic challenges facing Nigerians.

“Internal logistics within the country have made moving around to carry out economic, social, and even educational pursuits extremely expensive and is draining the pockets of Nigerians,” Sambo noted.

He warned that the current economic instability is unsustainable, with Nigerians dependent on their life savings, which may soon be depleted, leading to serious chaos nationwide.

Sambo also highlighted the issue of infrastructure decay, citing the destruction of federal highways, state, and local government roads due to overloaded trucks.

“In a few years, all Nigerian roads will collapse,” he warned, but added, “The government needs to invest in road maintenance and construction to prevent further decay and promote economic activities.”

To address these challenges, Sambo urged President Tinubu to empower farmers at the grassroots level by revitalising their agricultural production chains broken by terrorism.

“The President Tinubu Government has to empower the farmers from the grassroots because their agricultural production chain has been broken over the years due to terrorism,” Sambo pointed out.

He also called on the government to prioritise security, ensuring that Nigerians are allowed to farm, rear animals, and feed themselves.

By addressing these pressing issues, Sambo believes Nigeria can chart a new course towards stability, prosperity, and progress.

“The President Tinubu Government has to boost local agricultural production at all levels within 12 months for people to feed and vote for him,” Sambo said.

“The distribution of cartons of macaroni, sachets of salt, and few seasoning cubes during election campaigns will not work.”

The security expert concluded by insisting that President Tinubu has the ball in his court, and it’s left for him and his associates to help the people of Nigeria build up again starting now, so as to continue through 2027 in order to avoid an unpredictable wind of change that will come and sweep them out.
