Tiger Woods made a visit to Augusta Friday, his first since he and Augusta National Golf Club announced two major projects back in April.
Masters Tournament chairman Fred Ridley announced during the 2025 Masters that not only would Woods be involved in
designing a 9-hole course
adjacent to the Augusta Municipal Golf Course (better known as “The Patch”), but accompanying it would be the fourth
TGR Learning Lab
.
Woods was still recovering from Achilles’ Tendon surgery back in April, so he wasn’t on hand for the announcement. The five-time Masters champion did send a video message, thanking Ridley and all parties involved.
The TGR Learning Lab is a STEAM-based facility (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) and will be located in the Harrisburg neighborhood. Other TGR Learning Labs include Anaheim, Calif., Philadelphia and a third in Los Angeles in 2026.
The 9-hole course, known as “The Loop,” and newly-renovated The Patch will be open by the 2026 Masters Tournament. The project is a joint venture between Augusta National Golf Club, Tom Fazio and Augusta Technical College. The TGR Learning Lab is expected to open in 2028.
