French travel guide Le Petit Futé recently published its ranking of the most beautiful villages in the world. In fifth place, England shines with Bibury, a jewel of the Cotswolds with honey-coloured cottages.
The famous French travel guide Le Petit Futé recently revealed its ranking of the 15 most beautiful villages in the world. In this international ranking, largely dominated by France, Bibury still came out ahead. This small village in England proudly took fifth place. Yet another accolade for this picturesque place, often called one of the most charming in the country. Last August, Forbes even named it as the most beautiful village in the world out of 50 destinations.

A postcard-perfect setting in the heart of England
Nestled in the Cotswolds, between London and Birmingham, the village of Bibury represents the epitome of the English countryside. Although the River Coln runs through the village, it is most famous for its honey-coloured stone cottages, all located on Arlington Row.
Dating back to the 17th century, these former weavers’ cottages seem to have been frozen in time.
Between traditions and festivities
Every corner of Bibury invites contemplation and discovery. If there’s one thing you shouldn’t miss, it’s the farm. Founded in 1902, it is the oldest trout farm in England.
And if you’re planning a trip to England, book your tickets for Bibury at the end of the year. Every December, the village comes alive for the famous Duck Race, a zany event in which thousands of plastic ducks race down the river to the cheers of the locals. An English tradition to enjoy with your partner, friends or family!
