Smith, renowned primarily for his unsettling 2009 movie “Triangle,” is poised to reimagine his breakthrough horror work over two decades since it initially premiered on screen.
Headlining the cast is Jasmine Jobson, renowned for her performance in Top Boy, along with seasoned British horror actor Andy Nyman (known for Ghost Stories) and UK rapper Aitch, who will be starring in his first feature film.
Deadline
reports.
Based on the movie’s official synopsis, the narrative will delve deep into the murky passages of London’s famous underground railway network, where an ominous character dubbed Creep instigates a fresh wave of fear.
Johnson leads as an aspiring artist who is drawn back into her troubling criminal history. Nyman portrays a prisoner possessing deep insights into Creep’s terrifying deeds, whereas Aitch assumes the part of Natter G, a renowned drill rapper whose practical wisdom could be crucial for staying alive.
In the background, creators Julie Baines and Jason Newmarket reunite after their work on the initial Creep film, currently working with Dan Films and Newscope Films. They join forces with Jonathan Taylor, known for Something in the Water, as well as Laurie Cook, who was involved in Consecration.
HanWay Films is managing global sales, while True Brit Entertainment will handle the distribution in the UK and Ireland. The movie is set to be released in 2026, with primary filming planned to start this autumn.
For Smith, this remake holds great personal significance. He stated, “From the moment I completed Creep and shared it with the public, my desire has been to revisit that narrative.”
‘I’ve often thought there was more left undone.’ He observed that even though his illustrious career has lasted for many years, it’s ‘Creep’ that remains closest to his audience’s hearts. ‘Regardless of whatever else I have accomplished, it seems everyone knows me through “Creep” and wants to discuss this song.’
He pledges an enhanced iteration of the initial nightmare: “I have devoted myself fervently to the screenplay to preserve the fear from the first one, while refining the characters, enriching the humor, and intensifying the action… adding a contemporary spin for a fresh Generation Z viewership.”
The Creep appears ready to present a bone-chilling new installment. Enthusiasts anticipate that it will scare an entirely new cohort of viewers while also pleasing those who have followed the franchise from the beginning.
