The Fang Cheng Bao Tai 3, with its distinctive interior design, is gaining significant attention from international
automotive
media.
Launched by BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao brand, the Tai 3 showcases a unique personality through its angular exterior and sophisticated interior design.
A New Identity Forged by Angular Design
The Tai 3’s standout feature is its boxy body and straight lines, measuring 4,605 mm (181.3 inches) in length, 1,900 mm (74.9 inches) in width, and 1,930 mm (76 inches) in height. This design marks a radical departure from the streamlined aesthetics of previous BYD vehicles.
The production model’s bold exterior, reminiscent of a concept car, is turning heads. Its front end combines a high nose, sleek LED headlights, a vertical grille, and flared wheel arches to create a robust presence.
At the rear, vertical taillights and a flat tailgate emphasize practicality. A version equipped with a drone module seamlessly integrates a roof hatch, adding to its unique appearance.
Cockpit-Inspired Interior Design
Stepping inside reveals a high-tech space that contrasts with the rugged exterior. A 15.6-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster create a futuristic ambiance. Higher trims even offer a 12-inch head-up display.
Moreover, the impressive blend of physical controls and digital interfaces stands out. The gear selector, rotary knob, and various buttons are arranged alongside the touchscreen, evoking the feel of an aircraft cockpit rather than a traditional car interior.
Beyond aesthetics, BYD’s DiLink 100 system supports voice commands, over-the-air updates, and integrated navigation.
The front seats come standard with power adjustment, heating, and ventilation. Rear passengers benefit from adjustable backrests and a center armrest for enhanced comfort. Practical features include a 50W wireless charging pad, climate control, and ample storage space.
Performance for City and Off-Road
Built on BYD’s latest DMO platform, the Tai 3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) in just over 5 seconds. Despite its rugged appearance, it offers a surprisingly smooth ride in urban environments.
For off-road capability, the Tai 3 features an intelligent All-Terrain System (iATS) that automatically adjusts driving modes on slippery surfaces to enhance stability. Its fast-charging capability allows the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, enhancing everyday usability.
The Tai 3 is available in five trim levels, with prices ranging from 133,800 CNY (approximately 18,657 USD) to 193,800 CNY (approximately 27,023 USD). BYD recently announced that Tai 3 sales have surpassed 10,000 units, with market expansion expected to accelerate.
