The Studio Season 2: What You Need to Know About the Apple TV+ Return

The Studio Season 2: What We Know So Far

Apple TV+ has officially renewed The Studio for a second season, even before the first season of this self-described workplace comedy had finished airing. This move was hardly surprising given that the show received a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics before its release, and it currently holds an impressive 93%. It quickly made its way onto the list of best Apple TV+ shows, thanks to its entertaining and satirical take on the movie industry, complemented by a star-studded cast. As Matt Remick and the team at Continental Studios prepare for another series, fans are eager for more of the same fun and humor.

Here’s everything we know about The Studio season 2 on Apple TV+, including release date predictions, potential cast members, plot rumors, and more.

Release Date Prediction

The renewal for The Studio season 2 was announced on May 6. In an Instagram post by Apple TV, Seth, Ike, and Chase Sui Wonders were seen discussing the return of the show with their “winning formula,” as Seth put it: “a structure that we 100% know works, so we’re going to do it over and over again.”

According to a post on the Film & Television Industry Alliance, season 2 is already in pre-production, with a possible filming date set for December 3. For season 1, the show was filmed in March 2024, and it started streaming a year later. Based on this timeline, my prediction for the release date of The Studio season 2 is late 2026.

Is There a Trailer?

As of now, there is no official trailer for The Studio season 2. I don’t expect one to be released until late 2026. The season 1 trailer dropped only a few weeks before the show premiered on Apple TV+. Considering the potential release date, it’s still a while off. I’ll be sure to update this section as soon as a trailer is released.

Predicted Cast

Full spoilers follow for The Studio season 1.

Given how The Studio season 1 ended, I predict that all of the main cast will return. The main cast includes:

  • Seth Rogen as Matt Remick
  • Catherine O’Hara as Patty Leigh
  • Ike Barinholtz as Sal Saperstein
  • Chase Sui Wonders as Quinn Hackett
  • Kathryn Hahn as Maya Mason

The show became known for its incredible lineup of guest stars and cameos in season 1, featuring names like Bryan Cranston, Zoë Kravitz, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, and Ben Stiller. There were so many notable appearances that it would take too long to list them all.

Co-creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have mentioned that they might have run out of people to ask for season 2. Rogen said, “We’ve called in all our favors many, many years ago. We got everyone who was only willing to do this stuff because we were friends with them.” Goldberg added, “And that was by far the hardest part of the show, delivering those cameos. It was exhausting.”

Potential Plot and Rumors

Major spoilers follow for Slow Horses seasons 1 through 4.

The Studio season 2 is currently in pre-production, and the plot details are expected to remain under wraps until it’s available to stream on Apple TV+. However, co-creator Evan Goldberg mentioned that there is one episode leftover from season 1 titled “The Test Screening.” He explained, “We worked on it for months because it required a very specific actor, and we almost got that actor, but then they were too busy, so we had to move on.”

From the season 1 finale, we saw that Continental Studios were at an impasse with Amazon trying to buy them out, and Matt pitching at CinemaCon to stop the sale. Since CinemaCon has already taken place, there is room for even bigger developments.

In an interview with The Direct, writer Peter Huyck mentioned, “I think one thing we want to do is the big international film festival. That would be a dream to do an episode set there.” Additionally, considering the Kool-Aid movie was a major part of season 1, there may be more updates on whether all the hard work pays off.

Will There Be More Seasons?

Given that The Studio season 2 is still in the early stages of production, it’s unlikely we’ll hear about more seasons any time soon. The show was renewed before season 1 wrapped, so if we’re to predict when more news will come, it might be after the show returns to Apple TV+. I’ll keep this section updated if and when new information becomes available.
