Modern musician Andy Muridzo has revealed he will exit the music industry following the launch of his new album ‘Chakanyuka’, stating that the stresses of being a “public figure” have become too much for him.
“Chakanyuka” will signify the conclusion of Muridzo’s musical journey, which has lasted just beyond a decade and has transformed him into a well-known figure with popular tracks such as Dherira and Chidhafudhunda.
Muridzo took to Facebook, stating that he believed music was not his “real calling.”
I am writing to let the family of Muridzo know that CHAKANYUKA will be my final album. I never intended to make music my career, but one person I trust the most encouraged me to continue using my God-given talent.
I will always cherish my fans and family, but following this upcoming album, I will no longer pursue music as my profession: instead, I will channel my skills and recognition towards exploring my genuine calling, which is to spiritually heal others.
“I’m fed up with this celebrity life; it takes a toll on you from the inside. I attempted to remain strong despite being mocked by everyone, even those you consider your own,” he wrote.
Baba Keketso, who is no stranger to controversy, has occasionally faced criticism due to his romantic entanglements.
I express myself from the depths of my soul to bring you joy and entertainment, yet when I attempt to do so, I am insulted and called names that do not fit me.
I am aware that many of my fans won’t be pleased to hear this, but I’m exhausted from constantly trying to prove myself to a country that never truly values me.
“I deeply cherish music, but here I feel diminished. I plan to sing for my children at home after this album. I believe this isn’t what I was meant to do. Lord, guide me in finding my real purpose,” he added.
