The Importance of Remaining Connected to the Local Church
A person can become corrupted by their position and influence to the point where they lose their devotion to God. Some individuals grow so large in their status that they no longer see the value in attending church or maintaining a relationship with God. There are stories of people who have stopped tithing, believing their contributions are too significant for the humble church that once nurtured them. Instead of adhering to kingdom principles, they shift their focus to philanthropy and charity.
Moses was sent as a deliverer to free Israel from a system that had enslaved them. This highlights the importance of staying connected to a spiritual foundation. The priestly ministry plays a vital role in the salvation of the world. However, even good intentions can lead to problems if not aligned with God’s plan.
The Example of Gideon and the Ephod
Gideon made an Ephod and placed it in his city, which later became a snare for the children of Israel. The Ephod itself was not inherently negative, as it was part of the priestly garment. However, when the children of Israel transported the Ark on a cart driven by oxen, Uzzah tried to hold it when it was about to fall, and he died. Both Gideon and Uzzah had good intentions, but they attempted to replace the office that God had instituted for a specific purpose.
Believers should always remain connected to a priestly system that helps maintain their devotion to God. Gideon had good intentions but failed to understand the role of the priest’s office. Uzzah’s death was a result of ignoring the established order of God.
The Role of the Priestly Office
Even the head of a nation should be connected to a priestly office. No position on earth is above the need for the support of a church. However, in our time, many people outgrow the humble churches and systems that raised them.
The Bible reminds us: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together… but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” — Hebrews 10:25 KJV.
Staying Connected to the Local Church
Let’s not stop going to church. I have spoken to believers who stay at home because they have gained influence or due to other strange reasons. However, I believe the local church system was established for a purpose. Even if someone travels a lot, there is usually a local assembly close to where they go.
Gideon created an ephod, providing people with a structure of worship, but he did not give them a man to help and cover them as a priest. Many understand kingdom principles and pray, yet they do not attend any church.
The Dangers of Separation from the Priestly System
What caused the children of Israel to be corrupted by the ephod was that they used it without a priest. When Jesus was on Earth, He gave gifts unto man, and these gifts include ministers who stand in the priestly office. When was the last time you went to church or supported your local assembly?
Remember, it is God who gave you your influence or promoted you to your position. No matter how big you become, never be too big for your local assembly. I have seen people of influence who abuse their power, choosing to call pastors to their offices instead of attending church. Although they may seem connected to the priest through communication, they neglect the assembly of believers.
Active Participation in the Church
It is not enough to just have access to the priest; you must be part of the local assembly and actively involved. Whatever door God opens for you—whether leading a cooperation, a nation, or having influence over others—remember that all that has been released is to draw man towards God and advance His purpose.
This week, remember to go to church and be a part of God’s work. Stay connected, remain devoted, and continue to support the local assembly that has helped shape your faith.
