Tesla has officially established a local subsidiary in Casablanca, marking a major step in the electric vehicle giant’s African expansion.
The move confirms the company’s growing interest in Morocco as a strategic base for both clean mobility and renewable energy innovation across the continent.
This isn’t Tesla’s first engagement with the country. Since 2021, Morocco has hosted the first Supercharger stations on the African continent, including in cities like Tangier, Casablanca, and Marrakech.
Those early investments positioned Morocco as a launchpad for Tesla’s regional ambitions, now formalized through a new headquarters in Casablanca.
Tesla Morocco was incorporated on May 27, 2025, with a starting capital of MAD 27.5 million and is headquartered in the Crystal Tower at Casablanca Marina.
The company is led by Rafael Arqueza Martin and Shahin Oliver Khorshidpanah, and will focus on EV sales, maintenance, and vehicle replacement services.
Beyond the automotive sector, Tesla aims to expand into energy solutions in Morocco. Plans include solar power generation, energy storage systems, and possibly electricity distribution, signaling Tesla’s commitment to long-term energy innovation in the region.
Tesla’s Moroccan subsidiary was established by Tesla International B.V. and Tesla Motors Netherlands B.V., underscoring the company’s global reach and its confidence in Morocco as a gateway to Africa.
Beyond product offerings, the new entity is expected to provide technical support, engineering expertise, and workforce training.
With its formal entry into the Moroccan market, Tesla reinforces the country’s rising profile as a hub for sustainable technology, aligning with national goals for clean energy and smart mobility.
