A beauty influencer from Taiwan, who gained popularity for her live-streamed videos in which she ate cosmetics and skincare products, has passed away at the age of 24.
Known as Guava Beauty, she had over 12,000 followers on social media, where she often shared beauty and makeup tips as well as reviewed beauty products. In many of her videos, she consumed beauty products such as lipstick, blush, face masks, serum, and even cotton pads.
Taiwanese media have this week reported that her family confirmed her passing.
Later, they issued a statement on her social media account announcing her death, describing her as someone who “always persevered through life’s hardships.”
“It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that our treasured girl of beauty-product mukbangs, Guava Beauty, put down her brushes and flew off to start a new channel in heaven on May 24, 2025,” the statement said, the
South China Morning Post
reported.
Her Instagram bio has been updated to: “Logging out from the world. Setting off on a new journey. All business collaborations are suspended.”
The family and authorities have not disclosed the cause of death.
However, her passing has sparked speculations on social media. Some suggested it could have been due to cosmetic poisoning, while others assumed she may have suffered a stroke or heart attack caused by stress and an abnormal lifestyle.

Earlier in May, Guava Beauty promoted a gel blush by applying it to her face and then eating it with a fork.
“If you dare recommend it, I dare to eat it.”
“Let’s try it. It is crispy, kind of like agar jelly. Sorry, my friend, but it tastes terrible,” she said.
Her actions sparked controversy within the online community.
One person had commented, “Please stop this kind of behavior. If you enjoy it, do it in private. But do not promote eating cosmetics. These are chemical products. They are not meant to be chewed, and spitting them out does not solve the potential problem. If someone is misled by your videos and something goes wrong, will you take responsibility?”
Mukbang, a popular content genre in Asia, involves creators attracting viewers with exaggerated expressions or eccentric personalities, offering a relaxing experience for the audience by eating large quantities of food.
