T-Mobile’s 5G Fuels Comcast and Charter Wireless Plans

() – On Tuesday, Comcast and Charter Communications announced they will create a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that will leverage T-Mobile’s 5G network to provide services to business clients, with intentions to launch in the following year.

The details of the financial agreement were not made public.

With increasing competition in broadband and pay TV, Comcast and Charter’s latest MVNO agreement with T-Mobile highlights how the cable companies are pursuing new avenues for growth by entering the wireless industry.

The effort will solely concentrate on offering bulk mobile connectivity to Charter’s and Comcast’s corporate clients.

The firms stated that their ongoing long-term MVNO collaboration will remain in place to serve residential and existing business clients.

A virtual mobile operator is a company that offers phone services by renting network space from major wireless providers, instead of maintaining its own network equipment.

Leading MVNOs including Tracfone, Mint Mobile, and Metro by T-Mobile serve tens of millions of U.S. users, providing affordable prepaid and contract-free options.
