The Chief Medical Director of St. Ives Hospital, Dr Babatunde Okewale, has emphasised the special significance of the annual Children’s Day celebration to the hospital’s fertility unit and broader mission.
Speaking at the hospital’s recently held Children’s Day party, which brought together families and children born at the facility, Okewale highlighted the celebration as a reflection of the hospital’s core values.
“St. Ives is built around four pillars— women, children, family and fertility. They are all interconnected, and at the heart of it is the family,” he said.
According to him, the hospital began marking Children’s Day on a modest scale five years ago. However, with the growing number of births through its fertility centre—over 4,000 IVF babies to date—the event has evolved into a larger annual celebration.
“Each child born at St. Ives, whether through IVF or natural birth, is a significant part of our success story. That’s why this celebration is so dear to us,” he added.
This year’s event, held at the Parkland Event Centre in Maryland, Lagos, featured a paint-and-sip session for children and fun activities for parents. Winners received gifts from sponsors who supported the celebration.
