‘Squid Game 3’ Takes Over Netflix on Launch Day

” Season 3 soared to the top of Netflix’s global TV rankings just one day after its release, according to data from streaming analytics firm FlixPatrol.

As of June 28, the third installment of the Korean survival drama claimed the No. 1 spot in Netflix’s TV category across all 93 countries tracked by FlixPatrol—including the United States, the United Kingdom, and other major markets.

FlixPatrol compiles country-by-country “Top 10” data from Netflix to produce a global leaderboard of the platform’s most-watched content.

The new season, released June 27, picks up with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returning to the deadly game after his failed rebellion in the previous installment. Driven by personal motives, he reenters the competition, where he suffers the loss of a close friend. Also returning is the mysterious Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), now operating undercover inside the game. The season follows the brutal final chapter for those who survived the earlier rounds.

Since its debut in 2021,

Squid Game

has become one of Netflix’s most iconic series. Season 1 remains the most-watched show in the platform’s history. Season 2, released in 2024, posted the year’s highest first-week viewership and ultimately became Netflix’s third-most popular series of all time.
