The Controversial Remarks of Sparky Eyebrows and Chief Godlove
A Kenyan entrepreneur, known for his microblading business and flamboyant lifestyle, has sparked widespread backlash after making controversial remarks about Kenyans who use public transport. His comments, which were widely shared on social media, have been criticized as tone-deaf and disrespectful to those who rely on public services.
In a viral video, the entrepreneur, known as Sparky Eyebrows, targeted Kenyans aged 35 and above who still use matatus—public service vehicles. He questioned whether people in that age group should be using such transport, suggesting they should have their own cars instead. His words were sharp and judgmental, with a clear implication that those who cannot afford a car are failing in life.
“You are 35 years old and lining up to board a matatu. You don’t feel shame? It is raining, and you are fighting to board the PSV because you do not have a car,” he said. He further urged them to compare themselves with their peers, highlighting how others in their age group might be relaxing in their cars while they struggle to get on a matatu.
He claimed that matatus should only be used by younger generations starting their careers. “When people came to Nairobi to build their net worth, you came to make a eulogy. When people brought brains, you only brought a head,” he added, implying that those over 35 were not contributing meaningfully to society.
His comments did not go unnoticed. Many Kenyans took to social media to express their outrage, emphasizing that everyone has a different journey and that success comes in many forms. Some pointed out that not everyone can afford a car, and that public transport is a necessity for many.
Nimrodnick wrote: “If you felt demoralized by his statements, then I’m here to tell you that life has a way of humbling people and also uplifting people. Don’t give up on that grind. Maybe your efforts of today are just what’s needed for your future dream car or even just a means of transport of your own. God is in control.”
Others were more direct in their criticism. Mukasa.the.elekt said: “I unfollowed this guy yesterday instantly. I don’t want to see his face anywhere.” Captevanson added: “Did you see Jesus with a car? In heaven, it’s just donkeys.” Kaymothitima remarked: “You need to relax, man. Every dog has its day. We are not all the same. In fact, 80% of Kenyans don’t drive.”
The conversation around Sparky Eyebrows’ remarks continued with users sharing their perspectives. Sejo_hosee suggested: “This one should now be given a chairman seat in the men’s conference 2025.” Faraja_spring_ added: “Say less and thank God always. Not all fingers are equal, and not everyone’s journey is the same, but God’s timing is perfect.”
Chief Godlove’s Controversial Comments About Kenyans
In another incident, a Tanzanian forex trader named Chief Godlove faced backlash for making disparaging remarks about Kenyans. Known for showcasing his wealth online, he made comments during an interview where he described Kenyans as poor, jobless, and hungry, contrasting them with Tanzanians, whom he claimed were more financially stable.
His remarks included a particularly offensive statement where he suggested he could buy Kenyan youth to care for his dogs. These comments were met with strong disapproval from both Kenyan and Tanzanian audiences, who found them arrogant and disrespectful.
Many criticized his comparison between the two nations, arguing that it was not only inaccurate but also harmful. The debate extended across social media platforms, with users expressing their frustration and disappointment at his lack of sensitivity.
The controversy highlights the importance of respectful dialogue, especially when discussing sensitive topics like economic conditions and national identities. Both incidents underscore the need for empathy and understanding in public discourse, reminding individuals that their words can have a significant impact on others.
