SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Launches SES O3b mPOWER Satellites from Cape Canaveral

After a second scrubbed attempt the day before, SpaceX successfullyintroduced a pair of SES O3b mPOWER satellitesto a medium-Earth orbit on Tuesday, July 22, departing from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The Falcon 9 launched at 5:12 p.m. Following a trajectory heading east, the rocket’s first-stage engine successfully returned to SpaceX’s drone ship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean. The Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron had only estimated a meager 20% probability of favorable “go for launch” conditions, highlighting concerns about cumulus clouds, lightning, and surface electric fields.
