SIZEKHAYA Holdings has received the Fourth National Lottery and Sports Pools License.

This choice, announced by the National Lotteries Commission (NLC), comes after an extensive assessment of eight bids for the prestigious license.

The issuance of the license was approved following productive talks with Sizekhaya, as documented in an NLC report. The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition thanked everyone engaged in the discussions for their swift work, allowing the announcement to be made earlier than the scheduled date of May 28.

Nevertheless, this triumph is overshadowed by underlying legal hurdles, since the licensing procedure has faced examination, resulting in a ruling from the High Court.

The DTIC stated that they are seeking legal counsel to consider appealing the decision, highlighting the intricacies involved in this procedure. Additionally, he reaffirmed his dedication to respecting all the rights outlined by the court’s conclusions and restated his pledge to the parties who have placed bids.

“It is quite regrettable that this issue has now been drawn into legal proceedings,” stated Department Minister, Parks Tau.

Tau highlighted the opportunity for expansion with Sizekhaya at the helm. He conveyed his hopefulness regarding both the successful operations of the lottery and sports pools, as well as their beneficial effect on the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).
