Six Teens Charged in Modesto Shooting Incident

(FOX40.COM) — Officers from the Modesto Police Department’s Street Gang Unit have taken into custody six individuals suspected of being linked to a daytime shooting.

On June 25, approximately 6 p.m., the MPD reported that Stanislaus Regional 911 had gotten several calls about gunfire near Pelandale Avenue and Honey Creek Road in the northwest part of Modesto.

When law enforcement officers reached the location, they discovered proof that a shooting had taken place; nevertheless, no injured individuals were located, according to the police. The Street Gang Unit had been handling the case for several weeks, gathering information and pursuing each possible clue.

Authorities were subsequently able to locate six individuals, all of whom are minors below the age of 18.

On Tuesday, the MPD SWAT Team assisted the Stanislaus County SWAT Team and the Stanislaus County Probation Department in executing several search warrants in Modesto and Empire. All six individuals were arrested without any issues and processed into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on various charges, including conspiracy and attempted murder.

MPD stated that a gun and bullets were discovered as well.

Sgt. Mike Harman, head of the Street Gang Unit, said: “We will not allow gang violence in our neighborhood. The Street Gang Unit is committed to breaking up and stopping criminal street gangs in our city by actively finding, recognizing, and looking into gang members to ensure the safety of our young people and the community.”

Currently, MPD mentioned that this is an ongoing investigation and no additional details will be provided.
