Sindh Government’s Development Budget Reflects Vision to Transform Public Life: Memon

Pakistan, July 3 — Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday said that the Sindh government’s development budget was not merely about allocating funds, but represents a comprehensive vision to enhance the quality of public life.

The 2025-26 development budget continues the people-friendly policies of the Pakistan Peoples Party and reflects the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari.

In a statement, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that by presenting a historic development budget of Rs. 1.018 trillion, the Sindh government has proven that it does not merely make promises but believes in practical action. Important development projects have been included in the 2025-26 fiscal budget, keeping in view public needs and long-standing issues.

He said that a development package of Rs. 7.7 billion has been allocated for the divisional headquarters of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad. Under this package, projects related to road improvement, water supply, drainage, education, health, and other civic amenities will be completed in these divisions.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the construction of the Korangi Causeway Bridge in Karachi, the expansion of Shahrah-e-Bhutto, and the extension of the Safe City project are among the top priorities of the government. Significant measures have been taken to improve water supply and drainage systems across Sindh. An amount of Rs. 3.1 billion has been allocated for the rehabilitation of the Hub Canal, while Rs. 2 billion has been set aside for the Shahdadkot Water Supply Scheme.

He stated that initiatives like the 5 MGD seawater desalination plant and TP-4 sewage treatment plant in Karachi will be finished with the help of international agencies. In the agricultural sector, with the provision of financing to 200,000 farmers, a mechanization package, drip irrigation system, and horticulture clusters are being implemented at Rs. 33 billion.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that under the Sindh People’s Housing Scheme, 2.1 million houses are being constructed for flood victims, with ownership rights being granted to women as a step toward their empowerment. An amount of Rs. 21.7 billion has been allocated for providing facilities, financial assistance, and rehabilitation to persons with disabilities. Out of a total of 3,642 projects, 3,161 are ongoing schemes while 481 are new initiatives. Additionally, Rs. 119.5 billion has been earmarked for special development measures.
