Shrek Jr. Auditions for Young Performers July 21-22

Auditions for Young Performers’ Theatre Production of “Shrek, Jr.”

The Davis Musical Theatre Company (DMTC) is inviting young performers aged 7 to 17 years old (with 18-year-olds who are currently enrolled in high school also welcome) to participate in open auditions for their upcoming production of Shrek, Jr. This beloved musical based on the popular fractured fairy tale offers an exciting opportunity for aspiring actors and singers to showcase their talents.

Auditions will take place on Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22, starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, located at 607 Pena Dr., #10 in Davis. For those who are called back, callbacks are scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, at 4 p.m. at the same location.

This production is directed and choreographed by Megan Richmond, with musical direction provided by Montana Monce. The story follows Shrek, a grumpy ogre who lives in a swamp, only to find it invaded by outcasts from the fairy tale world. These misfits have been cast out by Lord Farquaad, a short but ambitious ruler with big dreams. Shrek sets off on a journey with a clever donkey to confront Farquaad, who gives him a challenge: rescue Princess Fiona, and he will be allowed to reclaim his home. Along the way, Shrek faces challenges, unexpected friendships, and a series of twists that make this fairy tale unlike any other.

Opportunities for All

Auditions are open to all roles, and there is no restriction on gender for any character. This inclusive approach allows every performer to explore different parts and bring their unique energy to the stage. A full list of characters and role descriptions can be found on the DMTC website at dmtc.org/auditions#ypt.
