Sex Offender Arrested Again for Sniffing Woman at Burbank Store

BURBANK, Calif.A convicted sex offender who had been previously arrested for smelling a woman was taken into custody for the same offense.

What we know

On July 22, police from the Burbank Police Department arrived at Nordstrom Rack on North Victory Place after receiving a call about a person acting strangely in the women’s section.

Police found 38-year-old Calese Carron Crowder at a Walmart situated within the same shopping complex.

Store security footage showed Crowder following a female customer through the women’s area. Law enforcement saw him kneeling near the woman, trying to smell her back, according to police.

Crowder was immediately detained. 

The Burbank City Attorney’s Office has charged one instance of loitering with the intention of committing an offense. Crowder is still in detention, with a bail amount of $100,000 established.

The individual has a long criminal record.

According to the police department, Crowder, a local resident,Glendale, is a registered sex offender who is currently on active parole and has a documented history of similar arrests for indecent behavior in both Glendale and Burbank, starting from 2021.

In 2023, video uploaded to TikTok, showed Crowder looking through a section of books at a Barnes and Noble store while bending down on the floor, moving closer to the woman. The woman claimed he was attempting to smell her.

After she posted the video on TikTok, the woman mentioned that several others reached out to her, stating they too had been targeted by the same individual at different stores, such as Urban Outfitters and Marshall’s.

Also in 2023, Crowder was arrested on suspicion ofpeeping and prowling at a Glendalehome with children present

Crowder had previously spent time in state prison for burglary and robbery charges and was sentenced in February 2023 to a year in jail for indecent exposure in Santa Clarita, according to court documents. Nevertheless, Crowder was released early, as reported by law enforcement sources to Fox News Digital in August 2023.
