Carter has spent the past 26 years at Science Hill, where he has served as an English teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Since 2021, he has been leading the Hilltoppers as their principal.

When he was a teacher, Carter received the title of 2009 Science Hill Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Carter, with nearly thirty years of experience as an educator, coach, assistant principal, and principal at Science Hill, offers a profound insight into our students, faculty, and local community,” stated Dr. Greg Wallace, interim superintendent for Johnson City Schools. “His demonstrated leadership and steadfast dedication to achieving excellence equip him exceptionally well to bolster our school system. We firmly believe that under Dr. Carter’s guidance, the efforts within Johnson City Schools will reach even greater heights.

In a statement released by JCS, Carter expressed enthusiasm for his upcoming responsibilities.

I am thrilled and humbled by the move to become the secondary supervisor,” Carter stated. “I have cherished my experience at Science Hill and am eager to support the students, educators, and leadership in a new capacity.

A representative from the JCS stated that the school district is currently undertaking a search for a new principal at Science Hill.
