Recognizing Excellence: Sarasota County’s Top Performing High School Graduates
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune has launched a special initiative to honor the county’s most outstanding high school graduates. In June, the publication highlighted students from each high school who ranked in the top 5 percent of their class. This month, the focus shifts to schools that have two or three students in this elite group.
The Herald-Tribune has compiled a list of exceptional students from various high schools across the region. These individuals are not only among the top of their graduating classes but also maintain a GPA of 4.0 or higher. Their academic achievements are matched by their contributions to their communities and extracurricular activities. The Hale Law Students of the Month will continue to recognize these students throughout the summer, both online and in print.
Booker High School: A Legacy of Leadership
Booker High School showcased J’siyah Taylor and Hannah Williamson as standout graduates. Hannah Williamson, in particular, was a force of nature, known for her energy and joyful leadership. She maintained a perfect GPA while revitalizing the debate club, leading it to state-level recognition. Her eloquence and persuasive arguments were legendary among peers. For both J’siyah and Hannah, their journey at Booker was about more than personal achievement; it was about building futures where they could make a tangible difference.
Venice Senior High School: Architects of Tomorrow
In the picturesque town of Venice, Abigail Yan and Austin Joyner stood out as two of the top graduates. Abigail, with her calm demeanor and sharp intellect, excelled in STEM fields. Her projects in advanced physics were renowned for innovative solutions, and she spent hours tinkering with robotics, dreaming of a future in engineering. She was a quiet leader, often mentoring younger students in the science lab.

At North Port High School, Hannah Gore and Layla Brownell shone as leaders. Hannah, with her keen interest in social justice, was a formidable presence in history and sociology classes. She engaged in spirited debates, backed by thorough research and compassion. Hannah is the top graduate from North Port High School and will pursue both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida.
Layla Brownell, with her thoughtful demeanor and artistic flair, found her academic stride in the humanities. Her English essays were works of art, weaving intricate narratives and profound insights. She dreamed of a future in international relations, using her linguistic skills and cultural understanding to foster global connections.
Sarasota High School: Minds on the Horizon
Sarasota High School celebrated Ella Collier and Wyatt Wrigley as top graduates. Ella, with her bright eyes and inquisitive mind, was a dedicated scholar of the sciences. Her passion for biology was evident in her detailed lab reports and efforts in the environmental club. She volunteered at a local marine biology research center, fascinated by the Gulf Coast’s ecosystems.
Wyatt Wrigley, a prodigy in computer science, spent countless hours coding and developing an app to help students manage assignments. His logical mind and problem-solving skills would serve him well in software engineering. Both Ella and Wyatt shared a commitment to intellectual curiosity and a desire to contribute meaningfully to their chosen fields.

Out-of-Door Academy, known for its tight-knit community and rigorous academics, presented Allison Rice, Josey Rubinstein, and Kaitlyn Roman. She envisioned a future in entrepreneurship, eager to create innovative solutions.
