Hollywood director Ryan Coogler’s recent movie, Sinners, has made over
700 million
naira in the Nigerian box office.
The movie, after spending six weeks in the theaters, has become one of the highest grossing international films in the history of Nigerian cinema.
The movie, Sinners, stars
Micheal B Jordan
as the lead actor, playing the role of two different characters.
Although the director Ryan Coogler has said that he never meant for the film to be a sequel, he explained why he made the movie.
“I’ve been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that. I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal. Your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention,” Coogler said.
The movie has however become a commercial success making over $260 million.
