The crucial turning point occurred during the balance beam event when the gymnast from Romania was awarded a score of just 11.633, which placed her behind in the competition for the medals. Nevertheless, showing remarkable grit and resolve, she executed an outstanding performance on the floor exercise, scoring 13.700 points, thus reclaiming her position as a contender for the podium.

Spain’s Alba Petisco demonstrated consistent performance throughout the competition and ultimately moved ahead of Ana Bărbosu in the rankings. Following this, the Romanian gymnast lodged an appeal against the difficulty score (5.5) given for her floor exercise, which caused a significant postponement.

In the meantime, Italy’s Manila Esposito executed her floor exercise routine with several mistakes yet managed to score 13.666, which was sufficient for advancement in the rankings. The judges ultimately dismissed Bărbosu’s appeal, as reported by the Romanian Federation.
