Rick Ross and DC Young Fly Trade Jabs Over Rapper’s Interview Exit

A Public Exchange Between Rick Ross and DC Young Fly

Rick Ross and DC Young Fly have been engaged in a public exchange on social media, sparked by comments from the latter about the rapper’s previous interactions with the 85 South crew. The conversation began when Ross shared a post on his Instagram Story addressing DC Young Fly, who had recently spoken about Ross leaving an interview with the 85 South crew back in 2021.

On the Rory & Mal podcast, DC expressed that it was difficult for him to say there were no hard feelings because Ross went on another podcast afterward that wasn’t afraid to ask him controversial questions, unlike 85 South, which he felt would respect him and not ask anything that could harm his career.

In response, Ross took to Instagram Stories (while lounging in his pool) to clarify the situation. He stated that he showed up for the interview with DC, Chico Bean, and Karlous Miller “for free.” He emphasized that he didn’t ask about analytics or other details, but instead came on to show love. He also denied that he walked off the interview, claiming he arrived early and that Rozay had other commitments.

Ross also mentioned that he wasted time wearing his Gucci jacket during the interview and jokingly told the 85 South crew to prepare some lemon pepper wings for his next visit.

DC Young Fly quickly responded to Ross’s comments, pointing out that the rapper isn’t the only one to do the show for free. He listed several other artists, including Boosie, TI, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg, who had all appeared on the show without payment. DC also highlighted that 85 South was already successful before Ross’s appearance and remained so afterward.

He added that the show does its own analytics and that there was always room for Ross to return. DC even offered to buy Ross’s Gucci jacket, saying he wanted to tell his son that he bought it from someone who left the set without a reason. He also mentioned that there were wings from Wingstop in the studio for Ross to enjoy, but the rapper was more focused on leaving than taking advantage of the offer.

DC emphasized that the show respects people who have things to do and suggested that if Ross had let them know he only had an hour, they would have made an effort to fit him in. He urged Ross to communicate better and not act as though he was doing them a favor.

During his initial visit, Ross was halfway through his conversation with 85 South when he said he needed to use the bathroom and left the set entirely. The crew was confused until someone from Ross’s team informed them that he had left to catch a flight. Ross later explained in an interview with The Breakfast Club that his abrupt exit wasn’t out of spite but rather because he was “in the zone.”

This ongoing back-and-forth highlights the complexities of relationships in the entertainment industry, where personal and professional dynamics can often lead to public disputes. While both sides have made their points, the conversation continues to unfold, showing the power of social media in shaping public perception and dialogue.
