After 3 years as principal, Kerry McDonald is hanging up his hat following 30 years as an educator. According to McDonald, his retirement will become effective July 1.

Lindsey is retiring from the Muscogee County School District after nearly 30 years. McDonald tells News Leader 9 he’s looking forward to spending more time with his family, but at the same time, he will miss the Red Devil family.
“I haven’t had a full summer to myself in about 30 years because I started with coaching and different things like that, so I just want to enjoy myself this summer, spend some time with my wife and godson.
McDonald thanks his stakeholders including students, parents, and staff who he says were amazing to him.
“Everyone was pro-Mr. McDonald for some reason or another. I’ve enjoyed making families, students, and my staff happy, said McDonald, “and accomplishing all the goals we put into place in my tenure at Central High School.”
The man stepping into the role as the new CHS principal is former Carver High School principal Christopher Lindsey. Lindsey is retiring from Muscogee County School District.
“It is an amazing atmosphere that someone is stepping into is a school that strives to meet all goals academically and athletically, it’s just an amazing place,” said McDonald.
Lindsey’s been an educator for 29 years, starting his career at Columbus High School.
Though he’s saying goodbye, McDonald wants to remind central red devils of the battle cry.
“I just want to encourage all Red Devils to continue to keep their horns up and continue to strive for great things for Central High School,” said McDonald.
