Residents Relish Weather and River Views in FATFARFilterWhere

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -Sunday’s hot and sunny weather created the perfect conditions for tubing on the Chippewa River.

Fortunately, Sunday also happened to be FATFAR — the largest single-day tubing event in the world. Residents from all over the Chippewa Valley spent the day floating down the river, many in unique tubes, enjoying the warm weather and the natural beauty of the water.

This event has been taking place for nearly five decades and has remained largely unorganized throughout that time.

However, over the years, Loopy’s Grill and Saloon has become a de facto hub for FATFAR, offering tube rentals as well as shuttle services to transport tubers to the river.

Aidan O’Conner, a general manager at Loopy’s, says the Grill and Saloon enjoys the role it plays in helping people make the most of FATFAR and hopes tubers keep coming back to enjoy the river.

“We want everyone to leave this place just wanting to come back,” said Aidan. “I hope they return — whether it’s next weekend to tube again or next year for FATFAR.”

Loopy’s also hopes that today’s FATFAR participants will return on September 6th for the Loop de Lori Triathlon.
